Week Commencing: Sat 21/10/2017

It’s that time of year again when the Danish descend, this group of lads are amongst the most constant and successful anglers we have come to us at Gigantica every year. Year after year they produce the goods, this group of talented individuals all fish in a similar manor, which is spreading large baits over a big area and fishing a matching hardened hook bait over the top.

This week’s weather was variable, with a mix of sun, wind and rain. The night time temperature have started to drop going down to around 6 degrees and the day time temperature was an average of 12 degrees. Throughout the week there was a strong westerly wind up until Wednesday when it turned to a northerly to see the week out.

First up was Anders Frank who decided to go into The Alamo, one of the Danish big casters, he found a nice clean area of gravel at 36 wraps, well out of the reach of most anglers. He decided to put two rods on this area with his third rod being cast 28 wraps, in-between Bob’s Beach and Baxter’s. His First fish came on Sunday morning a cracking Common known as The Koi which went 48lb8oz. Anders was using the IQ D rig with a DT Baits N blend boilie as his hook bait, he was baiting up every day with 10kg of boilies and yes he was spombing out that far too, with a large spomb. The next day he was in again this time a 20lb8oz mirror, he went on to have four more twenties, the biggest being Scappy at 27lb8oz.

Martin Skov decided to double up in The Alamo with Anders, with two rods at 25 wraps in-line with Alcatraz, and his third rod at 27 wraps in-line with Baxter’s. His first fish came on Monday morning at first light, a 30lb mirror known as the Trans Pretty One. Martin was using DT Baits N-blend boilies on an IQ D rig, he put out 8kg of boilies over the area with his spomb and throwing stick.

Peder Lichtenberg went into Alcatraz and decided to fish the same area as last year, 31 wraps in-line with Big Southerly. His other rod was put in-line with Scotties Corner at 23 wraps, and his third rod was fished at 27 wraps in-line with The Stink. Peder was baiting up every day with 10kg of DT baits N-Blend boilies. His first fish coming on Monday morning, a 27lb 8oz mirror called "The Sutton". The next day Peder was in again this time with an infrequent visitor to the bank called "Broady’s Mirror" which weighed in at 48lb 8oz. All his fish came on an IQ D-Rig presentation, with a DT Baits N-Blend boilie as his hook bait.

That’s it for another week here at Gigantica, it has been a tough week with only nine fish landed, still not bad for this time of year. There are still a few places left for next year, but be quick as the spaces are going fast!!!
