December 2016 Round-Up

With the lake being quiet on the angler front, the Gigantica Bailiff's have been making the most of the opportunity to do a bit of fishing themselves. Their results have been nothing short of amazing, considering we are in the month of December. It has been the most productive December on record since DF took control at Gigantica.

With mild temperatures, low air pressure and light winds, Steve Rocke started off fishing in Co's Point and was quickly rewarded with a 36lb 8oz Common. The fish then started to show more in front of Alcatraz so a quick move was on the cards. He selected to fish two areas; one at 27 rod lengths towards "The Stink" and the other at 31 rod lengths towards Big Southerly.

He baited up with chopped and crumbed Mainline Prototype FYBER Boilies mixed with Hemp and Maize, baiting up with around a kilo per rod. It wasn't long before  he started to receive some hectic action, culminating in one of the A-Team, Chunky, at 72lb 12oz. He also landed other mirrors of 64lb 8oz (Two Time), 51lb 12oz (Marcela), 51lb (White Lines), 42lb (The Buzzing Fish), 37lb 4oz (The Rocke), plus others of 36lb, 26lb, 24lb, 22lb and 21lb. Steve also landed two commons, topped by Dave’s Common at 36lb 8oz, plus another of 20lb 6oz. Taking his final tally to thirteen fish.....amazing!

Following the success of Steve's session, Buzz dropped straight into Alcatraz on his return to the lake. Fishing the same spots, he got sraight into action, picking up from where Steve left off. The weather was settled with overcast conditions, westerly winds, and daytime temperatures of around 5 degrees  lows of around 2 degrees at night. But as the session progressed it got colder with overnight lows of minus 7 degree's....brrrrr!

Buzz also had one rod in front of Pole Position and that one was left out for ten days before it finally produced a bite, and that was a fish known as The 43, which weighed in at 63lb.

He was fishing with three grains of slow sinking plastic maize on an IQ D rig, apart from The 43, which came at around 2pm, all of his other fish were caught during the early hours of the morning, with 2-4am being the best time for a bite. ziggy 67lb 8oz

Buzz was baiting with a mixture of Mainline Prototype FYBER boilies, which were chopped up and mixed with Hemp and Maize. He was putting out around a kilo over each spot, and not putting out any more until he had a bite.

As well as the two 60's, Buzz also had a Common called Lennies at 47lb, Scratches at 43lb 8oz, Short Dorsal at 34lb 8oz, Chopped Dorsal at 35lb, and a 25lb Mirror which has never been seen before, so named it "Minus Seven" as that was the temperature when he caught it. All of them were banked on Size 4 Korda Kurv Shank hooks fished on IQ D-Rigs with a COG Lead System and 3.5oz leads.
