Week Commencing: Sat 24/09/2016

Autumn is well and truly here, the night-time temperature dropping down to a rather chilly eight degrees and with day time temperatures remaining at around sixteen degrees with plenty of rain during the middle of the week. The sun made an appearance towards the end of the week making it feel quite pleasant.  We had W to NW winds for the majority of the week.

There were twelve keen anglers all ready and waiting at the gate early on Saturday morning, what could this week bring?  After the gate opened at 1pm they were all ready for the walk round, and there were some new bees and some regulars on this week.  So after the rules had been read and the draw completed, who ended up where, that is the question?

Steve Reeves drew ball number one this week, so he decided to go into Co’s Point.  Just like last week he started to fish the same area, 27 wraps towards the two round trees.  He cast all three of his rods out to this area and baited with 5kg of Plan B boilies.  Like last week it wasn’t long before he was into his first Gigantica carp, and a nice 41lb 8oz mirror called The Unattended, what a way to start the week.  Then on the Sunday morning Steve was in again, this time Rene’s Linear at 46lb and then to back that up he had The Face at 32lb.  Steve would bait up every day with 4kg of boilies.  The next morning he landed The Grey Plated at 39lb 3oz, Hockey Stick at 32lb 4oz, and the Cod at 36lb.  Not a bad mornings angling! Tuesday morning he had The Cheese at 43lb 8oz, Wednesday he had Arthur the Common at 47lb, Nuffin about Nuffin at 22lb 8oz and Billy’s Scaley at 21lb.  Friday morning he landed White Lines at 51lb 8oz and Gollums at 31lb 8oz.  What a week for Steve landing 12 fish, they all came on a simple 9-inch N-Trap hook link with a size 4 hook with a boilie and a pop up as a snowman presentation.

Peter Francis-Cable went into Baxters Hole after seeing what was caught out of there the last few weeks.  He also fished the same area where the fish have been coming out from, 16 wraps towards The Alamo.  Pete started off by putting out 2kg of boilies with his throwing stick over all three rods, that evening at 11.30pm Pete had a take on his middle rod.  After a tough battle he slips this mirror over the net, after looking at what he had caught he was straight on the phone to one of the bailiffs on site.  It turned out to be The Scar, and it went 52lb 4oz, a new PB for Pete.  What a way to start your first ever trip to Gigantica.  Then on Tuesday morning he goes and lands a 37lb 8oz mirror.  Rig wise he was using the IQ D rig with a wafter as his hook bait.

Andrew Mcgregor went into Big Girls.  He had his left hand rod cast at 8 wraps towards the tall tree, the middle rod was at 12 wraps towards the over hanging tree and lastly his right hand rod was cast at 21 wraps towards the reeds.  Andy baited each spot with 2kg of boilies for the fist couple of days.  After no action he decided not to bait the next day, and then on the Wednesday just before dinner Andy lands Mr Angry at 60lb 2oz.  Not bad for your first fish at Gigantica either.  Andrew was using a IQ D rig with a balanced tiger nut, over the week he used  a total of 20kg of boilies.  If you are fishing along the margins you may use tiger nuts as hook baits, which the bailiffs will give you a small pot to use.  Please do not bring your own!!

Malcolm Mitchell went into the Tree Line he had one rod in the first hole and the other two rods were fished in open water.  He started off baiting lightly over all three spots, it wasn’t long before Malcolm was into his first fish of the session and he goes and lands The Snags Linear at 44lb.  He was using a 12-inch coated hook-link with a size 4 hook with a single boilie as his hook bait.

Wayne Card was in Big Southerly and was fishing 16 wraps towards the left hand orange marker, 11 wraps towards the right hand marker, and 22 wraps towards Baxters.  He baited up with 2kg of boilies over each rod and it wasn’t until Friday morning that Wayne had his first fish of the week.  He goes and lands Shaky at 38lb.  Wayne was using IQ D rigs with Gigantica Banoffee wafters.

Ian Bennett went into The Stink, he was fishing all three rod at 27 wraps towards Bob’s Beach.  It wasn’t 'til Thursday that he was into his first fish.  He slips into the net The Cod at 36lb, this fell to and IQ D rig with a Banoffee wafter as his hook bait.  Over the week Ian used 15kg of boilies.

Sam Palmer went into Pole Position and he was fishing all three rod at 26 wraps.  Sam was baiting up every day with 3kg of boilies, then on Wednesday he lands a cracking 20lb mirror called Small and Mighty.  He was using a basic knot less knot rig with a size 4 hook and a boilie as his hook bait.

We still have some spaces available throughout the rest of the year.  If you would like a last minute trip, or even make a booking for 2017 then please visit the website or call 01268 820 440 for further information.
