Week Commencing: Sat 30/07/2016

Another great week here at Gigantica with some cracking fish being landed.  The weather has been really good to us this week, it was a nice cool 24 degrees in the day and a pleasant 12 degrees at night and with a steady north westerly wind all week.  The lake temperature was around 22 degrees for the week.

First off the mark to land one of these Gigantica beauties was James Sherrian.  On Sunday morning he goes and lands the Grey Plated at a spawned out weight of 33lb.  The next morning he was into his second carp of the week, this time he goes and lands Cluster at 68lb.  You wouldn’t believe it, his first time at Gigantica and his second Gigantica carp, WOW!! Great angling mate.  James was set up in The Beach and he was casting all three rods straight out at 20 wrap to a clear area.  James baited the area with 3kg of Krill boilies and was using the DF rig with a Krill boilie as his hook bait.  Then Tuesday morning James was in again this time a 24lb common and again on the Krill boilies.  Thursday morning James' noticed some carp showing in-front of Pole Position at 80 yards, so he upped sticks and moved into to there.  The next morning he was into another carp not a big fish for Gigantica but very welcomed nice 23lb mirror.

Elliot Sherrian was set up in Co’s Point for the week.  He decided to put all three rods at 28 wraps inline with the two round trees on the far bank.  It wasn’t long before he was into his first Gigantica carp.  A known carp called Harvey which went 36lb on the scales, and a few hours later he lands a 34lb common.  Not a bad start to the week.  Elliot was using the DF rig with one of our Gigantica special Spicy Active boilie for his hook bait.  The next morning he had a take on all three rods!  Elliott lands a 33lb mirror, 31lb common and another mirror of 30lb, not a bad mornings fishing.  Every day he was baiting up with 4kg of boilies and continued to catch every morning around the same time.  The next two to hit the bank was a 24lb mirror and a 22lb common.  On his last morning he had a 33lb mirror called Shaky and a 29lb common.  What a week for Elliott, having twelve bites and landing nine carp.  Good angling mate.

Rowan Hill went into Alcatraz.  His left hand rod was wrapped up at 23 wraps and cast in-line with Scotties Corner, with the other two rods were cast in-line with The Stink at 27 wraps.  Sunday morning he had a take on his left hand rod and after a short battle he lands a 36lb mirror which goes by the name of Herbert.  The next morning Rowan was in again, this time with 2C’s at 39lb.  He was using the IQ D rig with a Gigantica Banoffee wafter as his hook bait, then he was baiting up every day with 3kg of boilies over both spots.  Then on the last morning he goes and lands a nice common of 28lb.

Steve one of the Bailiffs at Gigantica had a few day fishing in Pole Position at the begining of this week.  Steve was casting to a hard spot at 27 wraps just to the right of The Stink, it wasn’t long before he was into his first fish and a well known carp called Baby Black Eye.  This one put the scales around to 41lb.

At Gigantica You get a breakfast roll delivered to your swim every morning at 9am, and an evening meal which is served at 5pm at the lodge on the main lake.  You can order a baguette with a choice of fillings and drinks, which will be delivered to your swim lunch time at 12.30pm.  If you would like a nice cold 6 pack of beers in a cool box with ice it can also be arranged.  Or even if you fancy a nice ice cream we can deliver them too.

Well that’s it for another week here at Gigantica, and what a great bunch of lads we had this week.  We hope you all can return soon!

We still have some spaces available thoughout the rest of the year.  If you would like a last minute trip, or even make a booking for 2017 then please visit the website or call 01268 820 440 for further information.
